How to use exsiting plex account?

Post by dkplex »

I'm setting up Plex using Yams. I've got everything else set up after a lot of trial and error. However, once I got to the Plex configuration section, things didn't go as described.

When I went to {my IP address}:32400/web, I wasn't greeted with the initial configuration screen. Instead, it prompted me to log in, which I did, but now I'm not sure what to do next.

There is an option to add a media server, but it takes me to the Plex website to download it. I'm not sure, but I think if I do that, it won't work since it won't be in the Docker container?

I'm using Ubuntu 24.04 (desktop). It's a fresh install with nothing else on it and all the default settings from Yams

I've been trying to get this setup for the past few days, so any guidance would be amazing.

Hey @dkplex!

It appears that you didn't follow the Plex configuration steps. You can check them out here: https://yams.media/config/plex/#first-steps

Cheers!

Roger.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I did follow those steps. Although it's possible I did something wrong. I'll try again.

Any thoughts on how I could have messed that up?

I really don't know since I don't use Plex :/ Maybe in the discord you can find someone who can help, but please update this thread if you find the answer (either by your own or in the discord)

Check your .env file in the installation folder to make sure your default service is Plex.

Check that the Plex container is running. If it is, and you go to that IP:32400/web it should load it.

If you’re in the discord give me a tag (same username) and I would be happy to go through some troubleshooting with you.

I'm going to retry those steps and I'll let you know.
Plex is loading, just not Plex server setup? Sorry I'm new to this.

Thanks

Updating subnet ip seem to help, but now I'm seeing "Not authorized" " You do not have access to this server"

Edit:
Updated my subnet again and it's fixed.
From 10.10.0.0 to 10.10.10.0 🤦‍♂️

Thanks for the help!
