Installing on Openmediavault

Post by pa28181 »

I already have an Openmediavault instance running on a Proxmox server Has anyone installed the Yams system on Openmediavault or should I just spin up a new Debian instance to run the Yams system on. If so any tips or instructions? Running it on the Openmediavault instance would be my preference.

Thanks

Hey @pa28181!

I think OMV is based on Debian, no? If you have SSH access, it should work, but I've never tried it.

Cheers!

Roger.

HI pa28181, would you mind reporting back if you've had any luck installing YAMS on the top of the OMV VM in Proxmox?

I'd really appreciate any feedback, 'cause I'm planning to do the same once I've some free time

Thanks

Got it installed after a bunch of "tweaking" and interpolating instructions.

I set up a user inside the openmediavault UI and added that user to sudo, ssh and user groups.
I changed the ssh login option in the Openmediavault to enabled (also checked permitted "root login" although that may not have been needed.
Then ssh into the openmedia vault instance and basically followed normal instructions.
I am still having some configuration issues on Sonarr and Radarr to get to the correct shared file system and am getting a message

Unable to add root folder
Folder '/data/' is not writable by user 'abc'

Make sure you give permissions to the user you created in OMV. Give it permissions to the install directory and the media directory

I think that I had not checked the "recursive" permissions portion on the privileges. Doing so and resaving that seems to have corrected the issue. I need to now move some files around.

Also, I suggest something like filebrowser be added to the stack if possible.
