Roger thank you so much - one final thing - please explain what I should put in the 'gid=' section as I am not sure I have a group?

This is myfstab now and I still have the same issue.

//192.168.0.150/Media /mnt/Media cifs username=faisal,password=(mypassword),uid=faisal,gid=1000 0 0

I know it's a permissions issue because, when I use command 'ls -l mount /mnt/Media', the entries show as:-

drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:34 blackhole
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:33 books
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:34 downloads
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:32 movies
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:32 music
dr-xr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 12:06 @Recently-Snapshot
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 12:06 @Recycle
drwxr-xr-x 2 faisal faisal 0 Jan 24 13:34 tvshows

(I made the folder manually and gave the user full rights as I thought that may have been the issue but it wasn't.

I don't know what else to tell you. This is definitely a permissions issue, you need to figure out before continuing.

What are you using as your media directory in YAMS? And what user are you configuring as the user that runs YAMS?

mnt/Media is my directory which is set to be //192.168.0.150/Media (which is my QNAP). I have now created identical users on the QNAP and on the Debian VM with the same passwords but that also has not resolved the issue. Maybe I need to contact QNAP?

Maybe? This is definitely an issue with your own configuration you'll need to figure out
