Change temporary download location

Hi there,

I have my media location set to a HDD, however I feel it may be impacting my download speed. Is there any way to change the temporary download location to the SSD then when completed the media gets moved to the correct folder on my HDD? Using Sonarr/Radarr with SABnzbd

Thanks!

Hey @marcusclarcus!

Are you sure your hard drive is the bottleneck? I've always downloaded to hard drives without any issues, even at full network speed (over 60 MB/s). I think your network might actually be the bottleneck before your hard drive is.

You can do what you described by adding different volumes to your docker containers, but you’ll run into a few problems. For example, atomic moves and hardlinking won’t work. When Sonarr/Radarr move files from your HDD to your SSD, it’s going to be very slow and resource-intensive.

Cheers!

Roger.

I can't think of what else it could be, outside of sabnzbd (ie downloading a file in a browser) I get my full internet speed, but im maxing out at 40mb/s on sabnzbd. The reason I think its that is because sabnzbd shows my folder speed is around 30MB/s

Maybe it's your server then. Did you tune the connections for your Usenet servers?

Ive tried every number from 8-250 which is the max my provider allows for

Hmmm... Have you run a hard drive benchmark to confirm the speeds? Maybe your hard drive is running at a lower speed or caped by USB or something else

Benchmark comes back fine - its not an external hard drive either

What do you mean "Benchmark comes back fine"? Is it full speed? Or is it the same as SABnzbd downloads?

Sorry, it comes back as full speed, not what sabnzbd is showing

Ok, if it comes up at full speed we can rule out the hard drive is the issue, right?

It kinda looks like your Usenet server has a speed limit, or your server is not tunned correctly.
